Romanian professor Born in Porumbacul de Sus, Sibiu county (27 March 1905) and died in Timişoara (17 October 1960). Education: school in Blaj, Braşov and Sibiu and faculty in Timişoara (Polytechnic School). PhD engineer obtained in 1940 at the Polytechnic School from Timişoara with the thesis: “Hydraulic Converter, Theory and Experiment”, first doctoral thesis from Romania in the field of hydraulics. Because originality it was patented. Specializations: documentation at the Polytechnic Universities from Vienna, Prague, Zurich, Berlin, Budapest, Turin and Milan and practice by the factories: Voith from St. Pölten, Escher Wyss from Zurich and Siemens from Berlin. Academic degrees: assistant engineer (1928-1931), associate professor (1931-1942) and university professor (1942-1960) at the Polytechnic University of Timişoara. Managing positions: head of Hydraulic Machinery Department (1948-1960), dean of the Electromechanical and Mechanical Engineering Faculties (1942-1960) and Cavitation Branch director from the Timişoara Scientific Research Base of the Romanian Academy. Achievements: remarkable contributions to the development of the Hydraulic Machinery Laboratory. For this reason he obtained the title of State Award Laureate in 1953. Scientific researches in the field of: turbo-machines hydrodynamic, aero-hydro-dynamic profiles grid and cavitation phenomena. Publications: about 100 articles in national and international scientific reviews and books like Hydraulic Machines (1951), Hydraulic Transmissions (1957) and Hydraulic and Pneumatic Machines Testing (1959) etc. Technical activity: designing, erecting and testing in the Hydraulic Machinery Laboratory of many turbo-machines, pumping stations and hydro-power-plants. |
