PLANETARY REVERSIBLE REDUCING GEAR MECHANISM

Click to enlargeClick to enlarge Description

Worm 1 rotates about fixed axis A and meshes with worm wheel 8 of carrier 9 which is designed in the form of a housing that rotates about fixed axis B-B. Planet gears 2, 3 and 6, rigidly attached to one another, rotate about axes C-C and D-D of carrier 9. Gears 2 mesh with gear 4, gears 3 with gear 5 and gears 6 with gear 7. Gears 4, 5 and 7 rotate freely about axis B-B, but either gear 4 or 5 can be stopped by engaging it with clutch 10. This provides forward and reverse rotation of driven gear 7. The numbers of teeth of gears 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 satisfy the conditions: z₄=z₂ and z₅>z₇ >z₂>z₄>z₃. The speeds n₁ and n₇ of worm 1 and gear 7 (in rpm) satisfy the equation n₇=n₁(z₁/z₈)((z₇-z₆)/z₇) for forward rotation, and n₇=-n₁(z₁/z₈)((z₆z₅-z₇z₃)/(z₇z₂)) for reverse rotation, where z₁ is the number of threads (starts) of worm 1, z₈ is the number of teeth of worm wheel 8, and z₂, z₃, z₄, z₅, z₆, and z₇ are the numbers of teeth of gears 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
