Opis (eng)

A critical edition of the Epitome of Metz, edited by a German philologist Otto Wagner (b. 1876). The Epitome is a late antique historical work about the life of Alexander the Great, written in Latin. Its author is unknown. It is an interesting, although unreliable, source for the life of Alexander. There are several similarities of the Epitome with the works of Quintus Curtius Rufus and Pompeius Trogus. The only surviving manuscript was found in Metz (and it was destroyed during the World War II). Year of publishing: 1900
