As the frightful and heartrending circumstances littendin,- Shipwreck are so well known to all, and are lo calculated to excite the sympathy of every humane Person, but especially of those who reside on the coast, the Local Committee feel that they might only weaken their appeal by adding any reasonings of their own on the subject. They are, however, happy to be in a position to state Unit, through the Royal National Life Boat Institution, 'fte cost, amounting to £ 420, of tbe St David s new 3jife Boat and transporting carnage will be presented to the locality by Lord Dartmouth end his tenantry, on condition that some assistance towards the expense, say 4 £ 200, of a substantial and commodious boat house, and Subscriptions of from £ 15 to t20 a year to help to meet the purely local expense of the coxswains' salaries, and Of the crew for practising in the life boat every quarter, be collected in our town and its vicirfity. 'The Local Committee, having received the promise of ftuch valuable assistance from the Parent Institution in London in aid of their own exertions, are anxious that inhabitants of St David's and its neighbourhood should so far as possible, have the satisfaction and the •credit of helping to maintain, by their own exertions ;and from their own resources, a life boat for affording succour to those unfortunate persons who may be cast .y on our shores. Without, however, the pecuniary assistance and the hearty general co-operation of the people of St David s and its neighbourhood, and Pembrokeshire at large, their objects and those of the Society cannot be carried out in thi. place.
