MEDICINE never witnessed a more important Discovery than in PIUTCHETT'S VKGETAHLE VEI5ML- FUCE, a Remedy that, contrary to all others, neither purges, vomits, nor otherwise affects the conxtttunon requires no con- finement, has neither taste nor smell, and is so harmless that it may b taken by an infant of an hYlr old yet never, in one instance, latled destroying every worm in the body, of which ample and undoubted testimunies are given with it. It is the actual discovery of a mcdi' a) practitioner of eminence, who may be readily referred to, and who solemnly asserts it contains not a particle of calomel, seammony, gamboge, or other drastic article. I'RiTCHETT'S VKOETABI.K VRHMIFUOE is prepared by BARCLAY and SONS, No. 95, Fairingdon-street, (late D. AND NERVOUS COM PLAINTS. MISS PIKE'S rOWDERS. KllHE above lady, who has for many years gratuitously and ■_ successfully administered a Mcdicine, prepaicd by herself, for the cure of EPILEPTIC, HYSTERIC, and every other description of FITS and NERVOUS DISEASES, is induced, by the increasing demand upon het for the same, and the ear- nest solicitations of friends to give more extensive publicity to its confirmed efficacy than it is possible to effect through the means gf a private individual; she now, therefore, offers it to the public for sale. This medicine has proved highly serviceable in Nervous Af- fections of the head inducing mental weakness, and in some cases bordering on insanity; and also, in the alleviation and cure of the various species of Nervous Complaints. No con- finement or restiaiut, more than that of being very temperate, is necessary during its use, as it is perfectly haimlcss, and a child may t3ke it. In consequence of 'ho large and unexpected demand for the powders, and the great amount of good derived from their use, Miss Pike, 10 bring them within the reach of all classes, has considerably reduced the price. The bottles will in future be 2s. !M.,4s. It is now offered in the form of the Chemical Essence, which contains all the medicinal properties of Linseed, combined with other populai and simple remedies; thu* producing a medicine of the most valuable na- ture. Coughs and Colds frequently lay the foundation of Con- sumption but if timely application be had to this medicine, every dangerous symptom will disappear. Children s Coughs, as well as recent ones in adults, will be removed by a few doses, (frequently by the first) old standing Coughs, (accompanied by difficulty of breathing, soreness and rawness of the chest, and affections of the lungs, where expectation is impeded), may require perseverance but they ultimately yield to its cu- rative powers. For INI i.ui-n/.A itisstrongty recommended; its virtues were so apparent during the epidemic in the winter of 1837, and the demand so great, thai upwards of 1,000 bottles were sold in one fortnight, principally from personal recom- mendation. In ASTHMA its chalilctcr [S established: nume- rous cures twn he adduced of persons, who declare that, prior to its use, they had not been able to tic down in bed for twenty nights, on account of difficnlt rnspiration. The said Lighthouse stiuctures are in addition lo the Sctcw-pile Light- house erected at the western point of entrance last June and present for a day leading-line two columns of the relative alti- tudes of 104 and 44 feet above half-tide level: The inner and higher column rises conspicuously from the town-site, is of red sand-stone colour, and when in line of the lower light appears between the Cusiom-house and the sea-view Hotel, with a spired Cliuich half a point westward. The lower Lighthouse stands at H. W. mark U50 feet in advance of the higher Light- house; it is of light-coloured stone, springing from a square colonnade, and makes out in relief when in line of the higher column. 'The two lights by night, or a black ball at the lower column of the two by day, indicate at the present stage of har- bour improvements nine feet water light up, which increases to eighteen upon neaps, and twenty-five feet upon spring tides; whilst in the buoyed deep eighteen at half-tide, twenty.four at II. neaps, and thirty-one feet on H. W.spiings. The rela- tive height of lights is so arianged as to dip the higher below the loiter when you hove passed through the new cut, and may haul south-eastward for the mooring Imous, where twenty feet water is retained at low-water springs. Two black buoys maik the eastern side of the cut, and a black and white chequered buoy the western side. The cut lies at the inner, i. c. sotitheni, portion of the leading line of lights.* H. M.
