COftN-SXREET, BBI8TOL aad Coburq-8tR=ET8,.LBEDS WALL-STBEBT, NEW YOBK, [123 TO THE FREEHOLDERS AND ELECTORS OF THE COUNTY OF BRECON. GENTLEMEN,—A vacancy having occurred ia G the representation of your County, by the lamented death of SIR JOSEPH BAILEY, Baronet, 1 beg to offer myself as a Candidate for the high honor of representing you in Parliament. My Family having been so long connected with you, and many of them having had the honor for many years of representing you in the Legislature, I trust you will not consider me presumptuous in now venturing to solicit your suffrages. My political principles I believe to be in unison with those of the great majority of you, because while warmly attached to the time-honored and admired Institutions of this great Country, I am not insensi- ble to the consideration that by timely, progressive, yet well-considered, measures of financial and political improvement, a continuance of the prosperity and happiness of the Nation will be permanently secured, and any measures which may be brought forward by the present Administration, having for their object such improvement, shall have my independent and most earnest support. While fully appreciating the blessings of peace, and desirous to maintain terms of amity with all nations, I cannot be unmindful of the necessity of keeping up our Army and Navy in that state of efficiency which will be the best and safest guarantee to ensure a long continuance of those blessings. It would, however, be my wish that legislative efforts should at once be directed to effect any fiscal retrenchment that will lighten the burdens of our taxation. The rights of conscience and the sacred principles of Civil and Religious liberty, will always obtain from me a warm and consistent support, and I hope shortly to see such a legislative measure introduced on the Texed question of Cliuirch Rates as will secure the maintenance and repair of the Fabrics of the Estab- lished Church, and finally allay all the irritated feeling which now unhappily prevails. The Trade and Agriculture of the Country will naturally be objects of interest and solicitude to me, and I shall always be happy to assist in local as well as legislative efforts for their improvement and pros- penty. Feeling moreover, deeply as I do, the unquestion- able advantages of Railway Communication, so long withheld from your County, I shall be most anxious to further that important object at all times, and by every means in my power. Should it be my happiness to secure your suffrages, I trust that increasing acquaintance with your wishes and interests will enable me satisfactorily to you, and at the same time conscientiously, to discharge the high and important duties which would devolve upon me as your representative in Parliament. I shall take an early opportunity of calling upon you, and giving any further explanation df my prin- ciples which may be required, and in the meantime, I have the honor to subscribe myself, GENTLEMEN, Your faithful and obedient Servant, GODFREY CHARLES MORGAN.
