SECRETARY AND OFFICES —HOBERICK MACKAY, Esq., 3, Lothbury, London, E.C. ABRIDGED PROSPECTUS. This Company is formed for the purpose of construc- ting a railway from Bridgend to Barry Dock, South Wales, thereby providing a new and direct access from the Llynvi, Garwi and Ogmore coal district to the dock and port of Barry. Coal is now being shipped at this dock at the rate of about 3,000,000 tons per annum. The output of the Llynvi, Garw, and Ogmore coal. fields was last year about two million tons New pits are being sunk, and other developments taking place which will at a very early date largely raise the oucput. The Directors would point to the rapid development of the Rhondda Valley coalfield between the years 1873 and 1836-viz., from an output of 2.418,959 tons to 7,071,071 toli-i-as an illustration of the rapidity with whicn thft coalfields in the Llynvi and Ogmore Valleys may be developed with th'! railway facilities now to be afforded. The Glamorgan Railway Company have entered into contracts with the Ocean Coal Company. North's Navigation Collieries, and other collieries in the Llynvi and Ogmore Valleys, guaranteein" to the Vale of Glamorgan Railway a mineral traffic which Mr Forster Brown estimates at a minimum of 700,000 tons per annum. In addition to the export mineral traffic, the import traffic in pitwood, iron ore, and general merchandise in connection with the collieries and ironworks is exptated to be very considerable. The local traffic will also, probably, be large. The line, which is 20 miles in length, and extends from the town of Bridgend to Barry, passes through a rich agricultural district, 4tixd now that the Barry Company have secured access to the Great Western Railway at Cardiff, this line will become the main line for traffic between Cardiff and the Vale ot Glamorgan. The Vale of Glamorgan Railway will, when con. structed. be worked in perpetuity by the 15 ary Rail- ways Company under an agreement scheduled to the company's Act of 1889. It is well known that the railways in South Wales, which derive their principal traffic from minerals, are among the best dividend-paying lines in the country. The S100 Ordinary Stock of th? Barry Dock and Rail- ways Company.upon which no interest was paid during construction, was quoted at a large premium before the Dock and Railways were opened, and the same stock is now quoted a £191. Th stocks of the Rhymney and Taff Companies have proved most valuable investments to the original subscribers. Messrs Lucas and Aird are prepared to enter into a contract to construct the works, and to complete the same by the 31st December, 1891, at prices which, the directors are advised by Mr J. Wolfe Barry and by Mr T. Forster Brown, are fair and reasoneble, and sticli as to leave sufficieul; margin of authorised share and debenture capital for the purchase of land and other exposes. Application will be mads to the Stock Exchange for an official quotation, The Act of Parliament, Working Agreement, and the proposed Contract may be inspected at the Office of the Company's Solicitors. Prospectus may be obtained of The Railway Share and Trust Agency, Limited, 4, Bank Buildings, Lothbury, London, E.C. of Messrs Fowler, Perks, and Co., 9, Ctemenfs-tane, Lombard- street, London and of the Bankers and Brokers, and at the office of the Company. 28th June, 1390.
