(Merchant) Lieut.-Col. Macnamara, of the Naval and Military Club, Piccadilly. Henry Marsden Latham, Esq., of Cockspur-street, Pall- mall. Bankers-Consolidated Bank (Limited), Threadneedle- street, London. Solicitor—Felix Carter, Esq., 10, Old Jewry-chambers, E. C. Brokers-Messrs. Smiths, Bartholomew-house, Bartholo- mew-lane, E.C. Auditors-Messrs. Griffiths, Field, Macnamara, and Co., Abchurch-chambers, Abchurch-yard, E.C. Secretary-Benjamin Gregory, Esq. Offices-Abchurch-chambers, Abchurch-yard, E.C. PROSPECTUS. The above Company is formed for the purpose of ac- quiring by purchase the well-known Freehold Colliery Estate of Blaenafon, situate in the Glyncorrwg Valley, and also the Cefn-y-van Estate, near Briton Ferry, in the county of Glamorgan, South Wales, and for the working, procuring, and selling the produce of the said lands and mines. These properties, as before stated, are freehold, and consist of about 910 acres, containing various seams of coal of the aggregate thickness of about 33! feet. The property has been very carefully surveyed by the eminent civil engineer, Robert Smith, Esq., and in his report he estimates the quantity of coal upon the estate to be 36,252,000 tons, exclusive of the ironstone and fire- clay, which exists in considerable quantity, and is of a very superior quality. A branch of the South Wales Mineral Line, forming a junction with the Great Western Railway Company at Briton Ferry, and in connection with Briton Ferry Docks in Swansea Bay, passes through the estate close to the colliery, thus affording an easy and inexpensive means of conveying the produce to the markets, the cost of transit by railway to Briton Ferry being only lOd. per statute ton or 8d. person upon large quantities. The only seam of coal which has been opened up to the present time is the Wenallt Seam, which is now being worked at a large profit, although in consequence of a want of capital, the operations are somewhat limited, the output averaging only 100 tons per day but, accord- to Mr. Smith's report, this might be very easily in- creased, by the employment of an additional number of colliers and without any further outlay, to considerably over 150 tons per day, which at the present price of coal will show an unusually large profit upon the proposed capital of the Company. It is proposed to open up the celebrated Glyncorrwg and Resolven Seams, the coal from which may be obtained as stated in Mr. Smith's report, by sinking a pair of pits to a depth of only 70 yards, and to establish at a cost of about £10,000 a very extensive colliery there, which it is estimated would produce an output of at least 400 tons per day. It will be seen from the report accompanying the pro- spectus that at the present price of coal the profit, owing to the great facilities of transit, &c., would be about 7s. lOd. per statute ton, which upon the output that may be reasonably and confidently expected to result from the application of the company's capital would insure to the shareholders an unusually large dividend upon the paid- up capital of the Company. The price to be paid for the property is;260,WO, of which 235,000 is to be paid in cash, and A;25,000 in fully paid lip shares. The agreement for the purchase of the property by the Company is dated the 18th day of February instant, and is made between William Richard Price of the one part, and Sydney William Jackson, as agent for and on behalf of the Company, of the other part, a copy of which, and of the Articles of Associates, may be seen at the offices of the Company. Having regard to the fact that this extensive estate is in the United Kingdom, and is absolutely freehold with- out royalties of any kind, and that the vendor takes a large porti f the purchase money in shares, the Direc- tors consider that it is not a speculation, but a safe and lucrative investment, especially as the Colliery is at the present time actually producing sufficient to justify the Directors in anticipating the payment of an early divi- dend. i f Prospectus and copy of the report may be obtained of brokers and at the office of the Company. Form of application for Shares. To the Directors of the Blaenafon and Cfyn-y-Yan Free- hold Colliery Company (Limited). The enterprising spirit of Englishmen has led them to seek in distant lands the fortune which, from the pressure of competi- tion, they cannot always secure in this. In so- doinic they not only promote the good of the country they go tOo, but that which they leave, and MESSRS. W. PRICE & SONS, CARDIFF HOUSE, CARDIFF, Ever mindful to do their part in furthering every national enter- prise, have specially selected a large STOCK oi READY-MADE CLOTHING, strongly made, suitable for Emigrants. It is perfectly obvious that in countries where labour of all kinds is very dear, that too much attention cannot be paid to avoid the expense of mending, and that the manufacturer in England who has capital at command, can supply articles of the best description at less cost than other countries Emigrants in every rank in life cannot therefore invest any money so profitably as in the selection of equipment at the above Establishment, necessary alike for their transit and their destination, whe her it be to Australia, New Zealand, California, India, America, or the Colonies.
