Candidates must be competent to carry out the duties prescribed by the Public Health Acts, the Orders of the Local Government Board, the Bye-Laws of the Local Board, and to carry out all their lawful directions with reference to the respective offices to prepare estimates, specifications, and plans, and to advise the Local Board as to 'the correctness of plans presented for their approval. They must also have a practical knowledge of building materials and sanitary works, road making, and the duties of a water engineer and sanitary engineering works generally, and able to superintend cemeteries. and to keep a set ot books in connection therewith. The board will give preference to a person who has previously held similar offices to a sanitary authority. The person appointed will be required to reside near the Board's Office at Blaina, to devote the whole of his time to the duties of the respective offices, to enter into a written agreement for the due and faithful performance of his duties, and must be prepared to enter upon same on the 29th September next, also to give security, through the Guarantee Society, in the sum of £50. The appointment as Inspector ot Nuisances will be made subject to the approval of the Local Government Board, and will in the first instance be made for one year. The salary will be as Surveyor S40 per annum, and as Inspector of Nuisances £90 per annum, to include travelling and other expenses (except necessary forms, stamps, and stationery).
