Cardiff, November 23rd, 1892. To Messrs Milner and Co., London. Dear Sirs,-Wth reference to the fire which took place here on Saturday morning, in which the whole of the Merchants' Exchane Bmldmgs were destroyed, our offices were situated in the building, and at abouc 7.30, when we reached the Docks, they were subjected to what we consider the fiercest part of the fire. We had two of your afes in llse-oné, list 3, fire and burglar proof Safe, in v.-hich were tire and marine policies for over £100,000, besides other papers. On opening same we iound the documents were slightly discoloured but. perfectly legible and fit for further use. The otber afe was one of your ordinary tire- proof description, and had been in our possession for some 25 years. It contained, besides account books, several valuable documents, and when we beard of the fire we were in some trepidation M to whether ita quality had been impaired by age, but on opening it, found the papers very little discoloured, and therefore in perfect condition. We had a Safe of another maker on the premises, but upon opening found the contents in a very bad condition. We have ùecilld in future to use none but your safes, and have pleasure in handing you herewith order for seven of various sizes for office and private use.—We are, dear sirs, vours truly, (signed) G.
