THE WELSH REVOLT.
THE WELSH REVOLT. Several Radical M.P.'s Threaten Re- taliation. A new trouble (rem.'irks tho ''Morning") has arisen to vex. the souls of perfervid Welsh- men. It appears that. several English Radi- cals, irritated at the everlasting threats of the Cambrian deputies, have intimated that they will vote against the Welsh Disestablishment Bill, just to show their appreciation of the misguided Welsh rebels. Whereupon the latter have caused it to b'j made known that if this is done there will be an "extension of the revolt," and if the Bill is endangered the Welsh party wdl withdraw its support from the Government. This is only Celtic bounce. Even if the Welsh Radicals did withdraw their support, they are not strong enough to do anything without th<? irihh malcontent* and these latter worthies are quite as likely to dish the Welsh as support them. 'Utere never was a political party so rotten as that now in power, and, though several section; of it. notably the Celts, for race appears to be getting into Eng- lish politics, are always proclaimmg their de- termination to cut. the throat "f the Govern- ment, they have done nothing up till now but make ferocious grimaets and sharpen their knives. Even Mr. LalxHi.ihce, whe-n it comes to voting against what he calls the Prig and Peer party, sinks into his boots in- stead of making good his brave vrrda. The ltadical piirty, in fact, is held together by sheer terror of dissolution. MCarthy, Redmond, Lloyd-George, and Co. are able exponents of the game of brag, but the game of light is not at all in their line, judging by recent perfor- mances. The abstention of Redmond and his IDPn the other and' r>l''yd George and one or two Welshmen is not much to boost of. Mr. Asquitb. on Wedn< sday evening, instead of regretting that "two or three of their Welsh friends did not take part, in the division on the Red.-ll. Grand (.V'RR.ittee, ought to have laughed at them. They will not go any farther.

BODY FOUND IN ELY RIVER.
BODY FOUND IN ELY RIVER. Identified as that of Mr. J. H. Davey who Recently Disappeared. Shortly after seven o'clock on Wednesday evening something resembling a body was seen Heating down the Ely River near to t.he weir by two men who were fishing. Having given the alarm, a man named Gardiner, employed at the Cardiff Corporation pumping station, with assistance, managed to get- the body to the bank, and then communicated with the police. Police-constable Barnes was soon on the spot, and the body was removed to the Bridge Inn, Ely, to await identification. During Thursday morning and afternoon investigations were made- by the borough and County police, and about six o'clock on that day it was found that the description of the body was almost identi- cal with that given on the records of a. missing gentleman named Mr. John Harvey Davey, who early on the 11th of December last left his residence, 8, Beda-road, Canton. His wife, who was recently appointed a nurse at the Cardiff Union Infirmary, was communicated with, and she, together with Mr. Davey, living at 7, The Parade, Cardiff, proceeded to the Bridge Inn, and although the body was. in a dreadfully decomposed condition, they had no difficulty in identifying it as that of Mr. J. H. Davey. The deceased had for some time before his disappearance appeared in a, very depressed state of mind. He was 30 years of age, and for aumy yearw wae employed as a traveiiei by Messrs. John jJibbert and Co., Castle- street, Cardiff, but more recently acted as manager for Messrs. Weston and Co., corn factors and importers. Widely known and highly respected, he was a member of St. Mary's Church, and took an active part, in its affairs.

WELSH DISESTABLISHMENT.
WELSH DISESTABLISHMENT. Bill to be Introduced in the Commons on Thursday. In the House of Commons on Thursday night Sir W. Harcourt, in reply to a question, said he hoped they might be able to introduce the Welsh Disestablishment Bill next week. To be Introduced Next Thursday. The Press Association understands that the Government hope to be able next Thursday to introduce the Welsh Disestablishment Bill, which will be entrusted to the charge of the Home Secretary. It is stated that, whilst thoroughgoing in its character, the measure will contain careful provisions to protect exist- in- life interests. There is reason to expect that the debate on the first reading alone will occupy two nights. The opposition to the Bill in the House of Commons will be opened by Sir Richard Webster, chairman of the Parliamen- tary Church party, and it is understood his speech will be replied to in the first instance by Sir George 081 orne Morgan. Mr. D. Randell at Morriston. At the Tabernacle Chapel. Morriston, on Thursday night a meeting was held to celebrate the twenty-fifth year of the pastorate of the Rev. Emlyn Jones. Mr. W. Williams, M.P., presided, and in the course of the proceedings the deacons presented to Mr. Emlyn Jones, on behalf of the congregation, an address of con- gratulation and' a purso containing £100. Speaking in support, Mr. David Randell, M.P., said, alluding to disestablishment, that he was not there to speak of the revolt against the Govern- ment. but he did say it was time for the Govern- ment to extricate the Welsh members out of their difficulties, and to give very soon a clear, unmistakable, and official assurance of their intentions to seriously pass disestablishment. If that were forthcoming' there would be no dang-er of disloyalty on the part of any Of the Weisli members, but. on the other hand, he felt that the Welsh constituencies w&uld fully and thoroughly endorse any action (independent, if necessary) MBtnaariHftMiiMw—vmmcnu-wwuiiuflMmw

"BETHANY CHAPEL
"BETHANY CHAPEL Next Sunday evening, and also on the: evenings of the two following Sundays, the- popular preacher, the Rev. W. E. Winks, will conduct Divine services at the Park-hall^ Cardiff, in accordance with a decision of the deacons and members of the Bethany Baptist Chapel to worship there for the next few weeks during the decoration and cleaning of the old place of worsbip in St. Mary-street. It may be, said that the work of renovation, which has now; been commenced, was certainly much needed, sc Bethany lias received very little attention in ih4 way of cleaning or repairs since the extensiyj alterations of 30 years ago, when the present hMKM some, but now somewhat secluded, buildings were erected. The whole of the work, including some additions to the organ, is estimated &<( about £ 200. which sum is being readily sub-! scribed by the members. It is expected thaK worship will be re-commenced in the chapel on Whit-Sunday. In the meantiace, services will be conducted in the school-hall adjoining the chapel in the morning, and. as above stated, at the Park-hall in the evening. — ■nninrwi nn wii 11 ■ inriaBimwww—i—Btti—
