There were present the mayor (who presided), Mr. W. J. Trounce (hon. sec.), Colonel Guthrie, Captain- Murrell, Mr. James Allan, Mr. T. W. Wailes, and Mr. Haoquoil. It was decided that the contract for supplying a silver model of the Valkyrie III., mounted on a suitable pedestal, should be let to Mr. Maton, of Queen-street, Oardiiff. Photographs of the yacht, supplied by Mr. Maton and enlarged in pencil by Mr. Wailes, were examined, and the best was selected. The model will rest on an orna- mental base of ebony, with silver, or silver- gilt dolphins at each comer. The front will be embellished with a silver plate and in- scription. The sides between the dolphins will be domed outwards, and two sides will be taken up by the arms of the Earl of Dun- raven and of the borough of Cardiff, supported by the maces and dragons, or leeks, enamelled on silver in true heraJdiio oolours. On the back will be a sunken silver plate, with a view of Dunraven Oastle. The model, which will bo in the best workmanship, will stand about 22in. above the base. Air. Maton has pro- mised that it shall be ready for the banquet to be given to the Earl of Dunraven, which will, probably, be fixed for the 26th prox. Already over JB75 has been contributed with- out the issue of a circular, a large number cf which will be sent out io-diay (Tuesday) announcing that the presentation will be made at a banquet at the Park-hall, the tickets for which will be priced at 10s. 6d. for gentlemen a.ud 7s. 6d. for ladies. A BRAVE SEAMAN. TWICE RESCUED FROM DROWN- ING AT CARDIFF. At about twot o'clock oittMomdapr morning a donkeyman, named Constello, belonging to the steamship Usk, lying in the East Bute Dock, was proceeding to his chip when ho accidentally fell into the water. The occurrence was witnessed by a sailor named Young, of the steamship Ancieut Briton. He at once went to the rescue of Consteilo and succeeded in getting him safely on land, and in a short time the unfortunate man was able to proceed. Young, however, noticed! that Consteilo was very shaky, watched him, and in a few minutes he again saw him fall into the waiter. He rushed to the spot and, with some difficulty, was successful in again placing him safely rn the quay, apparently lifeless. Young ran for assistance, and Dock-oonstable Munroe and a berthing man (both members of the St. John Ambulance Corps) were goo p. on the spot and commenced applying Sylvester's method for the recovery of the apparently drowned. In about two hours' time Consteilo re-gained consciousness and was able to say to which ship he belonged and was taken there by Dock-constable | Munro.

CARDIFF NATURALISTS MEOETING OF THE ABCHAEOLp- GICAL SECTION. A meeting of the archaeological section of the Cardiff Naturalists' Society was held on Monday siternoon. Thte members, walked from Penyrheol Station to Energlyn, where the old farmhouse formerly occupied by the Goodrich family vas inspected,' and also the interior of the farmhouse close ait- hand, con- taining some of the old woodwork removed frnn tho ruined mansion. The walk was then continued to the Van Farm. By per- mission of Lord Windsor and Mr. John Kvans, the columbarium, containing space for about 1,000 pigeons, was then entered, and the old court of *he mansion, with fine examples of mullioned windows, together with the gate- house and the curious double porches, were noted with interest. The domical form was specially pointed out by the president (the Rev. Canon Thompson). It was stated that mea- sured dra.wings of the Van had been made for Lor-l Windsor by Mr. H. Seward, secretary of th ction. The members, of whom there was fair attendance, afterwards proceeded to the Clive Arms, Caerphilly, for tea.
